Recapping the Recaps, Part 1
NEWS/SHITPOST— Some interesting things going on here in the first one!
“These would have been discussions in one of the various higher level rooms or semi-official side channels I wasn’t in, where the stuff happens that’s too secret for super secret staffchat. This is why the idea of staffchat recaps or whatever for transparency is a joke, by the way. The real dealing is done in the equivalent of smoky back rooms.”

After a hurricane of drama causing a mass evacuation of Staff, the Staff Chat Recap protocol brought to you by AdCap & Recap Captns is now underway. On God, no cap.
We have our first one, from August 2021. What do we learn?
- Staff is trying to make Junior Staff feel better.
2. Yurt works
3. Staff posit redundant roles that have no meaning outside them feeling better about “doing something”.
4. Staff are aware of the porous nature of their disciplinary reach when it comes to influential members of the protected class. Disc is called out for not doing their job well when it comes to prominent members, perhaps out of fear or incompetency. No conclusion is reached it seems.
5. All this Yurt talk has gotten New vs. Old staff worked up. Now that staff can’t act as a private entity unified in speaking ill of the userbase, the animosity is seeping into and deepening cracks in their inter-personal spaces. Conversation among staff about staff maybe hasn’t been “respectful and effective communication”. Staff recruit potential newcomers to staff through the SCP Declassified Discord, which totally isn’t official SCP, dude.
6. All that talk about JS being included in staff chats? Yeah, no. Just these very sanitized channels, so they can’t see the shitty things they’ve all said about everyone before. Surprise! It’s the same old Staff that the userbase knows and loves will operate in these classified channels, as if no policy proposal or a purely symbolic call to increased accountability ever happened.
7. Those of you who think that SCPD isn’t an extension of SCP Staff have another thing coming, and I don’t envy the realization curve about to hit you very quickly.
8. The idea of criminalizing dual citizenship with RPC was perhaps discussed, but not included in the official rules, despite it sometimes being told to people who would otherwise have been on RPC Authority too.
9. Bias in disc matters for the protected class (e.g. ProcyonLotor). See #4
10. Staff members had to be reprimanded over SCP-6542 to change their irrational defense of their cheap tricks to apologies.
11. The recent mass exodus of Staff due to the invasion of their private shit-talk rooms by accountability has knocked IRC staffing down a peg.
Until next time!
